Summertime... and the living is easy.... Birds are singing and the grass is high...

The cows have been on grass since mid-April, and have scorned all lesser food since. Young farmer moves the fences weekly, as he had better, or a small rebellion would rise!

It seems to be heading towards a hot dry summer, which the bees love (so far) and the cows love. Farmer worries about the crops seeded this year and hopes for rain to start them off well. The good thing about dry summers is that the crops you do get have a higher feeding value due to the concentration of sugars from the sunlight.

Small black Lizzie did her duty to farm and world, increasing the heifer count this week by one small black heifer calf. We will be testing her later on, but as Lizzie and the sire are both A2, the possibility of the calf testing A2/A2 as well is high, if not an actual guarantee. Lizzie regretably chose to have her calf while farmer girl was taking a short 3-day vacation and had to be attended by less desirable members of the farm family. The birth went well nevertheless.
